Geek and science comedy a specialty
Welcome to the internest of Ben McKenzie, Melbourne-based actor, scientician, comedian, feminist, improviser, geek, voiceover artist, gamer, presenter, nerd and ginger.
‘Geek comedy’s patron saint’ (T-Squat magazine), Ben writes and performs comedy science lectures as the Man in the Lab Coat (though he doesn’t usually wear the coat these days), conducts Museum Comedy tours, was a member of sketch group The Anarchist Guild Social Committee and is a regular performer at political stand-up room Political Asylum. He is one of the creators of Channel 31 variety show Planet Nerd, though these days you’re most likely to catch him as the Dungeon Master at his monthly improvised Dungeons & Dragons inspired comedy show Dungeon Crawl. It should come as no surprise that Ben loves games; he is co-founder of new games company Pop Up Playground, for whom he designed Spy Catcher and The Curse, and worked as Production Manager for the 2012 Freeplay Independent Games Festival. You will hopefully hear him on at least two podcasts in 2013.
His favourite dinosaur is Stegosaurus.
Here on the site you can find details of Ben’s appearances, along with blog posts featuring his musings on life, the Universe and everything. (Yeah, he loves Douglas Adams as well.)
